More details

The Bartram Trail follows the route traveled by naturalist William Bartram during his 1773–1777 explorations of the Southeast. The 115-mile trail runs through northeastern Georgia, a small corner of South Carolina, and western North Carolina through the Nantahala National Forest. It connects Russell Bridge on the Chattooga River to Cheoah Bald near the Nantahala Gorge. The trail visits several southern Appalachian balds including Rabun Bald and Wayah Bald. The Bartram Trail Society (bartramtrail.org) maintains the route.
