The Lone Star Hiking Trail is the longest wilderness footpath in Texas at 128 miles through Sam Houston National Forest north of Houston. The 96-mile main trail runs from Richards to Cleveland, TX. The Little Lake Creek Loop is a federally designated wilderness area. Summer hiking is not recommended due to heat, humidity, and insects. For maps and conditions, visit lonestartrail.org.
