Short but steep hike to a multi-tiered waterfall near Arroyo Seco, NM — one of the most dramatic falls near Taos. The trail reaches an upper falls with a cave behind the water curtain, and lower plunge pools cold enough to swim in summer. Approximately 1.5 miles round trip, 400 ft gain. Trailhead off Upper Ranchitos Rd north of Arroyo Seco. Free. Dog-friendly. Near Arroyo Seco dispersed camping areas along the river. Note: private land borders parts of the approach — stay on the marked trail.
