The Three Peaks
All three peaks are off VA-311 near Roanoke. Dragon's Tooth and McAfee Knob have dedicated USFS trailheads. Tinker Cliffs is best reached via the Catawba Valley approach or combined with McAfee Knob for a long day.
Good to Know
March through November. Fall color peaks mid-October. Spring wildflowers on the lower slopes in April–May.
All three trailheads are National Forest. Free parking. No reservations. Dragon's Tooth has a voluntary day-use fee jar.
Leash required. The final scramble to Dragon's Tooth may require lifting smaller dogs over a few rock moves.
