Camping Easy ⛺ First Timer

First Night Out

Everybody has a first time. A tent in the backyard at nine years old. A parking lot camping trip that turned into a tradition. The first time you drove to a campground alone and slept in your car because you'd never done it before. This badge doesn't care about the details — just that you showed up and spent a night outside.

Car Camping Counts

You don't need a backpack or a 0°F sleeping bag. A state park campsite with electricity and a picnic table is a perfectly valid First Night Out. The point is the night outside, not the gear.

Start with a Good Site

Pick a campground with bathrooms nearby, decent cell service, and easy access. Less friction on your first time means you're more likely to go back. Low-stakes is a feature, not a cheat.

Find Free Sites

National Forest dispersed camping and Bureau of Land Management land is often completely free. The Trek4Free explore map has hundreds of free camping spots you can search.

Honor System

Trek4Free runs entirely on the honor system. Mark it when you've done it. We trust you.
